Timu ya Taifa ya Tanzania “Taifa Stars” inayodhaminiwa na Bia ya Serengeti inakabiliwa na mchezo muhimu dhidi ya Uganda wa kufuzu kucheza Fainali za Afrika mwaka huu. Huu ni mchezo ambao kama Taifa Stars itashinda inaweza kukata tiketi ya kucheza AFCON mwaka huu itakayofanyika nchini Misri. Mchezo dhidi ya Uganda utachezwa Jumapili Machi 24,2019 saa 12 jioni kwenye Uwanja wa Taifa. Kocha Mkuu wa Taifa Stars Emmanuel Amunike ametangaza kikosi kitakachopambana kuisaka tiketi hiyo kwenye Uwanja wa nyumbani. Nahodha Mbwana Samatta anayecheza KRC Genk ya Belgium ataongoza kikosi katika mchezo huo uliobeba imani ya Watanzania. Kocha Amunike amesema Kikosi alichokitaja kimezingatia mambo mengi kuhakikisha Taifa Stars inapata ushindi. Amewataka Watanzania kuiunga mkono Taifa Stars katika kuipeperusha bendera ya Tanzania. Addressing journalists moments after the team’s 4-0 win over Kampala Region Select team, the Frenchman hinted of factors considered for the team selection. Uganda in 82nd position in latest FIFA ranking

Kiryowa Kiwanu Uganda has maintained its 82nd position in the world, according to the latest rankings released by world football governing body FIFA. World Cup champion France is number one for the first time in 16 years. France beat Croatia 4-2 last month for its second World Cup title, and jumped six places to reclaim the top spot it last held in May 2002. Belgium, which lost to France in the semifinals, moved up one place to second on the list, published Thursday. Tunisia remained the top African team despite dropping three spots to 24th in the world. Uganda did not move up the ladder due to the fact that the team did not play any competitive game for a month. Other CECAFA members are ranked as follows; Kenya (112), Rwanda (136), Ethiopia (151), Burundi (148), Tanzania (140), Sudan (128), South Sudan (156), Djibouti (197). Eritrea and Somalia are joint 206.

Uganda Now Ranks 18th Best In Africa

ganda has climbed 7 places upwards in the January FIFA Coca cola gradings to rank 82 nd   in the entire world of 208 member countries. Uganda with 411 points also emerges the best ranked country among all the ten member associations that constitute the Council of East and Central Africa (Cecafa). The previous rankings had put Uganda at 89 th  position. Rwanda is ranked second best in the region with 304 points, indicating a difference of 97 points between the two footballing nations. The Uganda Cranes beat Rwanda in the finals to lift the Cecafa-Tusker challenge Cup in Dar es Salaam on December 10 last year. The rankings further put Uganda in the 18th position in Africa with Cote d’Ivoire (889) topping the continental list followed by Ghana (779), Algeria (734), Egypt (698), Senegal (625) and Nigeria with 612 points. 'Do not lose against Tanzania': Museveni to Uganda Cranes

Uganda’s president Yoweri Museveni has instructed the national football side not to lose a match against Tanzania, even if the Cranes have already qualified for next year’s African Cup of Nations (Afcon). Museveni, who was hosting the national team captain Denis Onyango and the football federation president, Moses Magogo, congratulated the team upon achieving  qualification  to the continent’s biggest football tournament. ‘‘Even if the Cranes have already qualified, I know that they still have a game to play against Tanzania. AFCON 2019: Uganda qualify with win over Cape Verde

Uganda qualified for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations after beating Cape Verde 1-0 in Kampala on Saturday. Patrick Kaddu scored the all-important goal late on for the Cranes, who needed to avoid defeat to go through. Uganda, who had spent nearly 40 years failing to qualify for the Nations Cup, will now contest back-to-back tournaments for the first time since the seventies. Tanzania can take Group L's second spot if they win in Lesotho on Sunday. Should they succeed in Maseru, Tanzania would celebrate only their second Nations Cup qualification - and first since 1980. Uganda head coach Sebastien Desabre has announced a 30-man roster ahead of their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Cape Verde and the international friendly against Nigeria. The Cranes will head to Asaba to face the Super Eagles on November 20, three days after their match day five AFCONQ against the Blue Sharks. Uganda will qualify for their seventh Africa Cup of Nations if they avoid defeat to Cape Verde in their next international fixture at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
