Timu ya Taifa ya Tanzania “Taifa Stars” inayodhaminiwa na Bia ya Serengeti inakabiliwa na mchezo muhimu dhidi ya Uganda wa kufuzu kucheza Fainali za Afrika mwaka huu. Huu ni mchezo ambao kama Taifa Stars itashinda inaweza kukata tiketi ya kucheza AFCON mwaka huu itakayofanyika nchini Misri. Mchezo dhidi ya Uganda utachezwa Jumapili Machi 24,2019 saa 12 jioni kwenye Uwanja wa Taifa. Kocha Mkuu wa Taifa Stars Emmanuel Amunike ametangaza kikosi kitakachopambana kuisaka tiketi hiyo kwenye Uwanja wa nyumbani. Nahodha Mbwana Samatta anayecheza KRC Genk ya Belgium ataongoza kikosi katika mchezo huo uliobeba imani ya Watanzania. Kocha Amunike amesema Kikosi alichokitaja kimezingatia mambo mengi kuhakikisha Taifa Stars inapata ushindi. Amewataka Watanzania kuiunga mkono Taifa Stars katika kuipeperusha bendera ya Tanzania. Kwa upande wake, Afisa Masoko wa Kampuni ya bia ya Serengeti (SBL), George Mango amesema kampuni hiyo imekuwa ikihakikisha kikosi hicho kinafanya maandalizi m

Dieumerci Mbokani: DR Congo striker recalled for crucial Afcon qualifier

Veteran striker Dieumerci Mbokani has been recalled to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) squad for their decisive 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at home to Liberia on 24 March. The former Norwich City, Hull City and Monaco player is included in a 24-man squad chosen by Leopards coach Florent Ibenge. DR Congo need a victory in Kinshasa in the Group G match to stand any chance of qualifying for this year's finals in Egypt. Group leaders Zimbabwe are on 8 points followed by Liberia on 7, DR Congo have 6 and Congo Brazzaville 5. Mbokani, 33,  briefly quit international football  in April 2016 after the DR Congo Federation threatened to ban him for missing two 2017 Nations Cup qualifiers. But he resumed his career with the Leopards later that same year and went on to play at the 2017 Nations Cup in Gabon, which was the last time he wore his national shirt. Asamoah Gyan: Ghana captain left out of squad for Afcon qualifier against Kenya

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has been left out of coach Kwesi Appiah's 24-man squad to face Kenya in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Accra on 23 March. Gyan has struggled for playing time at his club Kayserispor in Turkey this season due to injuries. The 33-year-old striker, who played for 27 minutes in the 3-0 defeat away to Rizespor in the Super Lig on Sunday, was part of the Blacks Stars squad for their 2-0 win over Ethiopia in Addis Ababa in November 2018 but was an unused substitute. Coach Appiah has also recalled striker Kwesi Appiah, his namesake, after a four-year absence. The 28-year-old last played for Ghana in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations final against Ivory Coast, a game the Black Stars lost 9-8 on penalties. Although he was recalled three years ago, the former Crystal Palace striker missed the match against Mozambique in Accra due to a knee injury.
