Timu ya Taifa ya Tanzania “Taifa Stars” inayodhaminiwa na Bia ya Serengeti inakabiliwa na mchezo muhimu dhidi ya Uganda wa kufuzu kucheza Fainali za Afrika mwaka huu. Huu ni mchezo ambao kama Taifa Stars itashinda inaweza kukata tiketi ya kucheza AFCON mwaka huu itakayofanyika nchini Misri. Mchezo dhidi ya Uganda utachezwa Jumapili Machi 24,2019 saa 12 jioni kwenye Uwanja wa Taifa. Kocha Mkuu wa Taifa Stars Emmanuel Amunike ametangaza kikosi kitakachopambana kuisaka tiketi hiyo kwenye Uwanja wa nyumbani. Nahodha Mbwana Samatta anayecheza KRC Genk ya Belgium ataongoza kikosi katika mchezo huo uliobeba imani ya Watanzania. Kocha Amunike amesema Kikosi alichokitaja kimezingatia mambo mengi kuhakikisha Taifa Stars inapata ushindi. Amewataka Watanzania kuiunga mkono Taifa Stars katika kuipeperusha bendera ya Tanzania. STRAIKA wa Stand United, raia wa Burundi, Alex Kitenge amefunguka kuwa alishindwa kuwafunga Simba kwenye mchezo wao uliopigwa wiki iliyopita Uwanja wa Taifa na timu yake kupokea kichapo cha mabao 3-0, kutokana na uimara wa safu ya ulinzi ya Simba, huku akiweka wazi kuwa Juuko Murshid ni kiboko ya mabeki wote ambao amekutana nao msimu huu. Kitenge alishindwa kufurukuta tofauti na matarajio ya wengi ambapo mwanzoni mwa msimu alijiandikia historia ya kufunga mabao matatu ‘hat trick’ ya kwanza dhidi ya Yanga, licha ya timu yake kupoteza kwa mabao 4-3. Mchezo huo uliopigwa kwenye Uwanja wa Taifa hali iliyozua mshituko kwa wapenda soka wengi na kuhisi kuwa jamaa atakuwa moto mkali katika kila mchezo. Akizungumza na Championi Ijumaa, Kitenge alisema mabeki wa Simba walimsumbua sana tofauti na alivyotarajia, huku akimtaja Mganda Juuko kuwa ni kiboko yao maana alikuwa anamfuata kila mahali ili asipate nafasi hata ya kutuliza mpira, kitendo ambacho alifanikiwa na mpaka mwisho wa mchezo alitoka kapa bila kuziona nyavu za Simba. Kitenge aliifungukia beki ya Yanga na kudai kuwa walikuwa wanajisahau sana hali iliyosababisha yeye kupata nafasi ya kuwafunga mabao matatu, licha ya kuwa nao beki yao ipo vizuri ila walikuwa wanamsahau kitendo kilichompa nafasi ya kufunga mara kwa mara. “Beki ya Simba ilinisumbua sana hasa yule Juuko alikuwa ananifuata kila mahali, alikuwa hanipi nafasi maana kila nilipokuwa naenda jamaa alikuwa nyuma yangu, alikuwa hatoki kabisa hicho ndiyo kilinipa ugumu,” alifunguka Kitenge.



After Nigeria moved up four spots in the latest FIFA ranking released today, Super Eagles and Hapoel Be’er Sheva midfielder John Ogu believes the national team can become the best ranked footballing nation in Africa in the nearest future.

Reacting to an online report of the Super Eagles moving four spots up the latest ranking, Ogu tweeted “chasing number1 spot” and when quizzed by a fan if he meant in the world or on the African continent, Ogu replied “Yes Africa”

The Super Eagles climbed four places to 44th in the latest FIFA world rankings but remain number three in Africa behind Tunisia and Senegal while Cameroon and Ghana completes the top 5.

In the global ranking 2018 World Cup semi finalist Belgium takes the number one spot will World Cup winner France is in second place. Brazil, Croatia and England complete the top 5 best football playing nations in the world.

Nigeria’s best world ranking position was in 1994 when the team was placed number 5 in the world going into the World Cup in 1994 while the country’s lowest ranking was in November 1999 when the team was ranked number 82nd in the world.
