‘We remain hosts of 2021 Nations Cup’ - Ivory Coast

The Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) insists neither they nor the Ivorian government have been informed by the Confederation of African Football (Caf) of a possible shift in their hosting of the Africa Cup of Nations in 2021. The Ivorian Federation reacted to an interview Caf president Ahmad gave to Afrique Media TV on Monday when Ahmad said that Cameroon -  stripped of the 2019 hosting rights -  would replace Ivory Coast as hosts in 2021 and the latter would instead stage the 2023 tournament. "We made this decision to shift, because we saw that Ivory Coast also is not ready for 2021. To do things in a more humane way, in 2021, the Cameroonians will be ready. "And in 2023, we will organise the tournament in Ivory Coast. This is the decision taken by the Caf Executive Committee on November 30, 2018 in Accra," Ahmad said. A letter from Ahmad to the Cameroon President Paul Biya dated 30 November 2018, seen by BBC Sport, has also surfaced in Cameroon where Ahmad

A Cameroonian government minister says the decision by the Confederation of African Football (Caf) to withdraw the country from hosting the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations is "unfair" and a "blatant injustice." Caf announced on Friday that its executive committee had withdrawn Cameroon  as hosts because of delays in preparation for the tournament, due to start in June. Cameroon's Minister of Communication, Issa Tchiroma Bakary said the government was "dismayed." "In the face of this blatant injustice, the government of the Republic urges the people of Cameroon to remain calm and not to indulge to futile arguments," said Mr Bakary. There had been much scrutiny on Cameroon ahead of the Caf executive committee meeting on Friday, with focus also on the security situation in the northern and Anglophone regions of the country. Delays in construction were an issue, but Mr Bakary says the country is determined to ensure the projects will be c

Africa Cup of Nations: Sierra Leone disqualified from 2019 qualifiers

Sierra Leone have been disqualified from the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign because of government interference in the country's football association. It means Kenya and Ghana qualify for next year's Nations Cup finals from Group F. Sierra Leone were suspended from all football by Fifa  in October and an investigation was launched. They have not played any qualifying matches since that ban. The ban was imposed after the country's anti-corruption commission (ACC) barred Sierra Leone Football Association president Isha Johansen and general secretary Christopher Kamara from the governing body's offices. Both deny any wrongdoing. The Confederation of African Football (Caf), which made the decision on Friday, confirmed in a statement on Monday that all  Sierra Leone's matches during the qualifying campaign are now "annulled." With one match remaining in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign, Kenya are top of Group F on
